An Orientation to Workplace Safety

Overview

A worksite safety orientation program developed for British Columbia workers, providing them with the core knowledge they need to understand the BC safety requirements of work sites in the province and to work there with confidence. This program provides an overall knowledge of the importance of safety practices in the workplace and at home.

What You'll Learn

This program covers all you will need to know concerning your safety in the work place. Through presentation and discussion, each of the following categories are explored:

  • The Hierarchy of Controls – The Safety Pyramid
  • Risks and Hazards – defined
  • FLRA & FLHA – Hazard and Risk assessments
  • Intro to Workplace Bullying and Harassment
  • Intro to Fall Protection
  • Intro to Confined Spaces
  • Intro to Hazardous Energy Control (Lockout/Tagout – LOTO)
  • Intro to working around mobile equipment
  • Intro to Arc Flash
  • Intro to Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG)
  • Intro to working safely in bear country
  • Working safely around Helicopters
  • Alcohol and Drugs in the workplace
  • The importance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
